[ The real answer to this question is "anything is better than where I was before". ]

This world is vastly different than how I have spent the majority of my long life. Though I've been to thousands of different planets, I never really had much of an extended stay on any number of them. At times, this place has technology beyond the Galra's, but also far beneath it. It's quite strange, but in an intriguing way.

[ :) ]

I've been thinking the very same thing. Even before my father's ten thousand year rule, electricity was hardly used.

[ Waves a hand. ]

Galra can live for centuries. However, Zarkon's life span is likely due to his exposure to our own replacement for electricity.

Quintessence. To put it shortly... it is an energy of life. It can be found in nearly everything.

In moderation, it's safe to use. It can be a wonderful thing to behold. But when you are excessive with it...

Yes. One that replenishes itself over time, and in moderation, hurts none. It was celebrated in alchemy and healing by the Alteans of old.

My father, however, cared more for martial might than efficiency, and often slaughtered entire worlds while taking their quintessence.

[ It's mostly fine unless you are Lotor and feel like you need special quintessence in order to achieve universal peace. Then it's not fine. ]

A simple, yet especially effective, reaction.

Well there's...

... admittedly, there is a great amount of morbidity in my life. Aside from political mingling, I do not know much about small talk.

[ How should he answer this... ]

Nine days is not enough time to steal my heart away, and the wounds from my previous romantic encounter are still quite fresh. I am also, unfortunately, not exceptionally talented at befriending others—the vast majority of my life did not lend itself to such a thing. However, there are some here I find myself interested in, and have yet to become bored when conversing with them.

[ It's... NOT ENTIRELY FULL OF LIES......... JUST A LITTLE BIT. ]

[ I'm good at being nice and using people, and knowing where that ends and genuine feelings begin is hard, ]

No, no, you did nothing of the sort. But perhaps I just do not have a proper frame of reference for "friendship".
